Field Trip Request

If you would like to bring your school, class, school group, day care facility or other youth group in for an exciting trip to the ice rink, we would be more than happy to have you here.  We have many options available for you.

  1.  Basic Ice Skating Field Trips.  During an ice skating field trip students will have the opportunity to come ice skating here at the facility.  With over 700 pairs of rental skates we can easily accommodate groups of 250 to 300 and more.  We have both hockey and figure skates.  If you would like our snack bar to be open we will accommodate that request as well.  We understand music with explicit lyrics are not suitable to be played for students in a public setting such as ours so we play edited music and can tailor the type of music played to your specific group.  These groups can be booked privately (which require a 40 person minimum and is subject to available ice openings) or during a public session (where a 10 person minimum is required).
  2. Educational field trips and group tours.   The educational field trip is an excellent opportunity for children to tour the facility, learn how ice is produced, maintained and kept cold, how the ice resurfacer (or Zamboni) works, how ice skates glide on the ice and how ice skates are maintained.  For older students there is a video available (either DVD or online) to teach the "physics" of ice and refrigeration.  More information can be found in the educational section under our group menu.
  3. Host fundraising events at our facility.  During a fundraising event you will have the opportunity to help generate money for your organization.  You simply invite your group to come skating, set up a booth or table in our lobby to collect money (at the rate a customer pays full price) from your group skaters and then at the end pay us for the total number of skaters at a group discount price.  Basically you keep the difference.  These types of groups can either booked privately (requiring a 40 person minimum) or during a public skating session (requiring a 10 person minimum)
  4. Hot chocolate and cookie days.  These groups are for ages 12 and under.  They are usually reserved during a 2 hour block of time on a weekday, however if the facility is available at other times, your group will be accommodated.  Hot chocolate and cookies are served in the warm room during or after the skating session.
  5. End of year parties.  Most of the time it is challenging to find a venue or facility to host an end of the year party.  Either they are all booked up or the weather is unpredictable.  We will do our best to accommodate your group either privately or during a public session and the climate is never an issue.  Gateway Ice Center is always a great place to go, out of the inclement weather and we never have "bad air days".  Plus you can bring in your pizzas, snacks and drinks.
  6. Incentives for academic achievement.  Have you ever wondered how to reward the students in your school or classes who have excelled academically?  An ice skating outing is a great way of supporting those achievements.  It is also a fun way for students to participate in physical education without even realizing they are doing it!

With all of the various opportunities available to accommodate your group or class, please do not hesitate to contact us for your next field trip!!.
