FRESNO JUNIOR

FALCONS TRAVEL HOCKEY

Once children in the In-House program progress their skills to a point where they are ready for the "big leagues" they may try out for the Fresno Junior Falcons (Fresno Junior Hockey Club). Try-out are usually held in July or August. Some children who have been playing roller hockey have no trouble crossing over to ice hockey. The organization is a club made of members who travel around Northern California. These members (children) play in a league called NORCAL. NORCAL is a league made up of teams from cities all over Northern California. Practices are held weekly and games are on the weekends. A lot of teams will participate in holiday tournaments. Some teams make it to NORCAL playoffs and then to CAHA (states) playoffs. CAHA is the governing body for youth hockey in California. CAHA regulates both NORCAL and SCAHA (the Northern and Southern California leagues).

Getting your child involved in travel hockey can introduce him to a sport which will build life long friendships, teach them effort, discipline and dedication, and may even put them in to a position to pay for college utilizing hockey scholarships. A lot of the youth involved in the FJHC have went on to play for Junior A leagues in Canada and the U.S. Some have gotten four year scholarships and even drafted in the NHL. It takes hard work and dedication to aspire to such goals but it is well worth it. If you would like more information about becoming involved in travel hockey you can contact the Fresno Junior Falcons website or leave a Gateway Ice Center staff member a message on our request information page and we will gladly forward it to the proper Fresno Junior Falcons Club member.
